We have been selling sock yarn for a good while now, and at last Carole is having a go at knitting with some of it.

     Carole's sock knitting tales.

We have been selling sock yarn for a while, starting originally with Wendy Happy 4ply yarn, which is now long discontinued so we now stock sock yarn from West Yorkshire Spinners, Opal and J C Brett's

So for 2019 Carole has started a new project and is having a go at learning to knit socks.

The first pattern she is trying is one that came to her from Viridian when we started to stock Opal sock yarn that they supply for us.

                                             1st sock waiting grafting

1st sock with toe waiting to be grafted. 3.2.19

Carole of The Wool Boat has started knitting her first ever sock.

She has now knitted the toe of the sock and is now ready to graft the toe.

The stitches where transferred to two double pointed needles (dpn's) at the start of the toe shaping.

She is using a purple shade of yarn from the J C Brett's "Funny Feetz" range, this shade being FZ03 and is knitted the main part of the sock on a 2.5mm circular needle from the Knit Pro "Symphonie" collection, transferring to the two dpn's at the start of the toe rather than trying to cope with four needles.

We have been on holiday to Amble for a week, and despite running a yarn shop

I've still been buying sock yarn, this is the collection from the week.
